I guess we’re almost at the end now, technically – today’s Pokémon are the last “ordinary” Pokémon of Alola. On the other hand, we’re sort of not near the end at all, because we’ve got not only legendary Pokémon to do after this, but also Ultra Beasts, and I think I promised to write something about the Alolan forms as well, and… oh, let’s just get on with it. Tony the Tiger asks:

You like old stuff, right? What are your thoughts on fossil pokemon?

In general archaeologists take pains to point out that we do not study fossils (it’s a surprisingly common mistake). Not all “old stuff” is similarly old (unless you listen to certain ill-advised religious sects); I deal in the hundreds/thousands of years range, not millions/tens of millions. Fossils are about as much my professional area of expertise as the moons of Jupiter are an airline pilot’s.

…as it happens, though, I am independently a layman dinosaur nerd with a basic knowledge of evolutionary biology, and I was a sufficiently weird kid that, when I started school, I wanted to be not a fireman or an astronaut but a palaeontologist. So LET’S TALK FOSSILS.

Dinosaur Reviews

In addition to reviewing Pokémon when I can get around to it, I also occasionally review dinosaurs, for the amusement of my friends on Facebook. Please note that the following are only my opinions, however please also note that my opinions are always objectively right. Some of the animals reviewed here are not dinosaurs, but assorted other reptiles of the Mesozoic or earlier; not being dinosaurs they are technically ineligible for ratings on the 5-star scale, but I have applied a range of other rating systems as appropriate to each one.
