One lunatic's love-hate relationship with the Pokémon franchise, and his addled musings on its rights, wrongs, ins and outs. Come one, come all, and indulge my delusions of grandeur as I inflict my opinions on anyone within shouting distance.
I’m actually a high school teacher now! This is my second year as a teacher and my first at a new school in Auckland, where I’m currently teaching classical studies and general science. And I am tired *all* the time and theoretically still working on my PhD thesis, which… well. I never really *decided* to take a break from the blog, which is why I never made any announcement about it, but I just reached a point where I didn’t feel able to make real commitments to the writing work I would need to do for the big creative projects I wanted to happen here, because if I ever do feel less pressured I really *should* put that time and energy into my thesis. And I don’t have a clear timeline for when that will change.
But… there is a horizon. I will… at some point… finish my thesis (and rest assured it will be available online and you will be able to read it, if for some reason you want to). And everyone tells me (they are probably lying, but they do all tell me) that teaching gets much easier in the third and fourth year, because you’re no longer teaching things for the first time and you can lean on the planning you did and the resources you created last year instead of frantically putting together *everything* on the fly. So… yeah, I’m fine – good, even – and although I don’t know exactly when I’ll be back I am emphatically *not* gone forever.
Yeah, I remember you removing the Twitter dongle after I sent in an ask pointing out that it didn’t work anymore so I knew you were less dead than the site is.
Believe it or not, that was actually a coincidence; I deleted my Twitter account around the same time the dongle stopped working, so even if it later got fixed in an update there was no point in keeping it around.
Hey Im so glad you’re okay, I still kept checking on a weekly basis, and was kinda worried, but man im just glad you’re okay (I’ve been around since the Black and White days….lol)
I’m really glad you’re okay. I considered trying to reach out to you but, outside of messaging you on Discord (which I worried would seem invasive given we’re probably not much more than acquaintances with me running your Kingslocke a few times), I didn’t know where else to try you. I had seen you online in Discord a few times though so I was pretty sure you were, at the very least, continuing to exist in this mortal coil. I’ll continue to check here every so often but maybe I’ll see you around at some point, it’s always been pleasant when we interact.
And seriously, congrats on the teaching job and good luck. I have friends who are teachers and am aware how exhausting it is… I’m only a public librarian at this point and I don’t think my job is likely as demanding, but I think education of any kind is the type of job that can be fulfilling. And I always felt your enjoyment in teaching.
