Are you gonna continue your X Nuzlocke at any point? I enjoyed it immensely and hope it’s simply on hiatus… Not trying to pressure you, though!

I’m not sure… I would like to, but I also feel like probably, for most of my readers, it’s relatively less important than most of the other things I could be writing.  Like, it strikes me as a bad idea to finish the Nuzlocke at the expense of delaying my reviews of the 7th generation Pokémon by another couple of months.  And now OH CHRIST ANOTHER ONE ALREADY!?  WHY IS THERE ALWAYS ANOTHER ONE!?  And should I finish the Nuzlocke instead of writing about that?  That doesn’t sound right.  The problem is there’s always going to be something else that has a higher priority, but I don’t want to just leave it unfinished (and Jim the Editor keeps nagging me to get back to work on it as well).  So I don’t know; what do people think?

Could you kiiiiindly use the Alolan forms as an excuse to write your usual reviews for some of the older Pokémon? So, like, you could write about Rattata/Raticate or Cubone/Marowak and use that to talk about both the Kantonian and Alolan forms! It would give you a great excuse to wildly speculate about Pokémon ecology and evolution (in the real-life sense) 😉

Without getting too much into future plans – I am going to be doing something with older Pokémon after I finish talking about generation VII, but it’s not going to be in the same style as my usual reviews.  There will probably also be a general article about the Alolan forms as a group, sort of like what I did for mega evolution in generation VI, and I’ll do my best to talk about the most interesting ones there.

Have you ever thought about running another of those make your own Pokémon projects?

Well, I’ve thought about it, but I’m not exactly short of things that I want to do, and I really don’t think there’s much that I bring to the table in a project like that.  Like, plenty of websites exist, and plenty of people populate them, that specialise in designing Pokémon.  There are also things like Smogon’s Create-a-Pokémon forum for communal efforts, which are run much better than I could hope to.  I’d rather focus on writing my Pokémon reviews and anime commentaries, and finishing that Nuzlocke story, and I have other things in mind for after I tackle generation VII.  It’s a very low priority, put it that way.

You have no idea how excited I am for your opinions on S/M. The story was phenomenal, I loved the characters, all the new Pokemon, plot twists I didn’t expect … I genuinely and eagerly await your thoughts when you get the game! I just beat the main story with 58 hours clocked in.

An anonymous user also says, on a similar note:
“i’m genuinely excited for you to start gen VII because the new features remind me a ton of your “if I were in charge” series”

Well, colour me intrigued!  I thought generation VI was very well-done all around, and I approved heartily of a number of its new features, which addressed a number of the same things that “If I Were In Charge” was supposed to; I’m excited to see how VII might build on that design philosophy.  I’m scheduled to crawl out from under my spoiler-proof rock and begin my journey in Alola this Sunday (the 11th), so you can expect my initial ramblings either that day or the next.

VikingBoyBilly asks:

I just found out Rare Candy Treatment ended his webcomic two years ago. I’m bummed that he’s not going to do any Gen 7 gags; but you’ll still be updating until the end of time, won’t you?

When the stars burn out, when the final gasps of humanity are extinguished in the endless void, when space and time themselves collapse and Pokémon’s nine trillionth generation draws to a close, here I will stand, still bitching about the latest electric rodent.

How do you feel about doing occasional reviews of Pokemon á la Gen 5 & 6 at a leisurely pace with no expectations for you to do them all? Basically just when you feel you haven’t posted in a while or had that particular Pokemon on the brain? Like “today I’m gonna share my thoughts on Wingull and Pelipper because I saw some seagulls at the mall today” or something like that.

No, but not because it’s a bad idea.

Where I am at the moment is… if I’m not posting things it’s not because I have nothing to post; as well as covering Generations I have to finish the story of my X Nuzlocke at some point, and I would prefer for that to happen before I start reviewing the generation VII Pokémon (which will be after I’ve finished playing the game and talking about the story, which itself will probably begin a couple of weeks after the game actually comes out), and if I ever do feel like I have nothing to post I’ll just do more anime commentaries. I’m just too damn busy right now.

Having said all that, I actually have recently come around to the idea of eventually doing something with the generation I-IV Pokémon, starting immediately after my inevitable reviews of the generation VII Pokémon.  This won’t be reviews in my accustomed style though; it’ll be something else whose precise format I’m still working on.  More on this at a later date.
